Allegra Homes wins big at Parade of Homes
Updated: Apr 26, 2018
For the fifth time in seven years, we’re excited to announce that Allegra Homes won best overall in our category at the BIA Parade of Homes, an annual awards program that honors the best in residential building in Sarasota and Manatee.
This year, we entered our new Kristi Ann model, which features a beautiful West Indies-style exterior paired with a luxurious coastal contemporary interior. The Kristi Ann swept the awards in its category, winning not only best overall but also best curb appeal, best kitchen, best master suite and best floorplan. A panel of architects served as the judges, and we have to admit that it’s a pretty good feeling when architects critique your work and give you high marks in every category.
The real hallmark of our Kristi Ann model is its bright and airy interior space, which we achieved thanks to the strategic use of natural light. For example, we used transom windows between the upper and lower cabinets in the kitchen. We also opened up the space with 17-foot ceilings and installed two windows in the dining room, in addition to glass double doors that open onto a gorgeous courtyard.
The model was really special for us because we decided to build around an existing oak tree, which actually became a prominent focal point of the completed house. In fact, the Kristi Ann may have some of the prettiest landscaping we’ve ever done. The Sarasota Garden Club even hosted an event there for its members. Of course the model also has a fantastic pool, which won an award for one of our subcontractors at the 2018 Parade of Homes.
The Kristi Ann model home, which sold after multiple offers, also features amazing design details like floor-to-ceiling barn doors, state-of-the-art appliances, natural hickory floors, a beautiful deck and Travertine tile for the pool. We know it’s the little details that can really turn a house into the home of your dreams.
We’re so proud of the finished product, especially because we at Allegra Homes handle every part of the custom home building process … from drafting out design ideas on napkins over lunch at Subway all the way through construction. We build every one of our custom homes as though our families were moving into the finished product, and boy would the Kristi Ann be a nice place to unpack!
